MONTEREY, Calif. — Less weight and more power.
Lamborghini has shaved another 110 pounds while adding 50 horsepower to the latest version of itsAventador supercar that it showed for the first time Saturday at the Quail Motorsports Gathering here.
The Aventador LP 750-4 Superveloce, as its known, will now spit out 750 horsepower, good for zero to 62 miles per hour in 2.9 seconds, says Stephan Winkelmann, who heads up the famous Italian brand. Top speed is 217 mph.
“Superveloce is the purest, most sports-oriented and fastest series production Lamborghini ever,” he says. “The Roadster version represents our commitment to satisfying our passionate clients with immensely emotional driving dynamics combined with an extraordinary open air experience,” he said in a statement.
The enhanced power-to-weight ratio helps not only with acceleration, but handling, according to Lamborghini. The car is powered by a 12-cylinder 6.5-liter engine coupled with a seven-speed transmission.
It’s going to be priced at $530,075.
