Yahoo ditches passwords for email

REMEMBERING passwords is a modern day hazard. Now, Yahoo says it has scrapped passwords and found a more secure way for you to log in to your email.

The Telegraph reports that the app uses Yahoo Account Key, which sends you a push notification asking you if you are trying to sign into your email.

No more passwords

You can select yes or no and it will take you through to your email.

Users who feel more secure with a password can opt out of the new log in procedure.

If your phone is stolen or lost, verification notifications can instead be sent to other linked email accounts and phone numbers.

The tech industry has long discussed the death of passwords and indeed many, like PayPal, are looking at ways for people to log in without having to remember tricky letter and number combinations.
